India - Education for everyone

The Indian government is striving to significantly improve the education level of the population. The establishment of universities is high on the political agenda. The number of illiterates, which still exceeds 20 %, is to be reduced. But it is primarily the number of expensive private schools which is increasing rapidly. Most of the population is unable to pay the high annual fees. The state schools usually have huge classes, the teaching staff is unmotivated, and the level of education is very low.

Through four elementary school, four kindergartens and preschools, we enable children to receive a good education or to enter a state educational institution. If necessary, we also provide the schoolchildren with food and clothing. Three of these schools are in areas that the locals call "jungle" and refer to themselves as "savages". One of the schools is specifically for the low-caste children whose parents work in the tea gardens in the north of the country.
